¿ s security? If so, the Sandia National Laboratories (SNL) Diagnostics & Instrumentation Services (DIS) department is seeking a Health Physics Dosimetrist for our Radiation Protection Dosimetry (RPD) program.
Dosimetrists provide technical support in external and/or internal dosimetry via determination of radiological doses and maintaining national accreditations, as well as other Health Physics/Radiological Engineering work, and support of emergent radiological incidents and emergency response situations.
The selected candidate will be called upon to provide direct leadership, supervision and support to the Health Physics Technicians and/or Health Physicists within RPD and will be the RP Subject Matter Expert (SME) and dedicated Point of Contact (PoC) in support of Line Customers that require dosimetry services.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
+ Direct and supervise the activities of Health Physics Technologists in providing dosimetry services.
+ Support other RPD Health Physicists in carrying out all dosimetry services.
+ Provide expert-level advisement to larger Radiation Protection (RP) organization and Line Customers on the use of dosimetry services in all experimental and production environments encountered in Sandia
¿ s functional Mission spaces.
+ Provide expert-level advisement to RP organization and Line customers in the appropriate application of DOE regulations and orders as well as SNL policy regarding dosimetry services.
+ Provide expert-level advisement to the RPD Program Lead and management on resource allocations for dosimetry services.
+ Lead RP participation as an SME for dosimetry on safety committees at the Corporate and customer level and services on defined work planning committees for RP and Line customers.
+ Perform expert-level technical analysis and quality review of dosimetric measurements and monitoring data.
+ Lead RP technical projects and programmatic working groups.
+ Authorize technical documents for the implementation of the Dosimetry program in support of Line customer projects, as well as for the greater RP organization.
+ Lead and/or participate in internal and external audits and assessments related to radiation protection dosimetry.
+ Train RP personnel and Line customers in the implementation and application of RPD services.
+ Provide overall subject matter expertise in dosimetry services for emergency management during both exercises and emergencies.
+ Work is fast-paced, and assignments may change frequently in response to Customer and Radiation Protection organizational needs.
Some travel may be required.
Activities include working with or in the presence of hazardous materials. Potential hazards include but are not limited to ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, chemicals, safety hazards, biological hazards, noise, and ergonomic hazards.
Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.
