Unit-Based Temporary RN Position
These job openings are for a Unit-Based Temporary RN position with Occupational Health Services.
Note:
Flu clinics begin early September with training beginning in August. Interested applicants should apply if they are reasonably confident that they will be available August - December 2026. A minimum of 2 flu clinics a week September to October is expected.
This position does not qualify for Michigan Medicine benefits and specific terms and conditions of employment are negotiated at the department level. These positions are not covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the University of Michigan and the Michigan Nurses Association and the UofM professional Nurses Council.
Unit-based temporary employees who have worked 400 hours in a calendar year then become a Per Diem employee and have an obligation to pay dues or service fees as covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the University of Michigan and the UofM professional Nurses Council. Temporary APRN employees and MVC temporary employees are not eligible for Per Diem status.
Once the employee meets the 400 hours threshold, they then are a union member for the duration of employment as Per Diem.
Responsibilities*This position is responsible for administering vaccinations, per established protocols, based on the nursing process, and vaccine manufacturer guidelines.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Recording administered vaccine in Enterprise Health and assisting with verifying flu vaccine documents submitted via portal
- Managing clinic supplies/inventory
- Responsible for set-up and break down of clinic area and transportation of vaccine and supplies.
- Refers to the protocol (containing the signed physician’s order for vaccine immunizations and emergency treatment as well as protocols and procedures) as needed. Confirms that all systems are in place before beginning to see patients.
- Other duties as assigned.
NOTE:
Flu clinics are held at various Michigan Medicine locations both onsite and offsite and clinic hours vary with some weekend and evening clinics.
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan
- Successful completion of a program in nursing
- 6 months of acute nursing experience or equivalent
- Ability to work autonomously in a non-structured environment

- Baccalaureate degree in nursing
- Good verbal and written skills
- Good organizational and leadership skills
- Possession of broad-based skill
- Two years nursing experience
