Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Facility Inpatient Coder to join our remote team. This role is ideal for professionals who thrive in a collaborative environment and are committed to delivering high-quality, compliant coding.

  • Job Type: Full-time
  • Location: Remote
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday

Note:
Candidates with a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) credential through the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) may be considered if they have extensive inpatient/DRG experience (7–10 years).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assign ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, MS-DRG, APR-DRG, POA, and discharge status codes based on thorough medical record review.
  • Evaluate physician documentation and initiate queries when clarification is needed, in accordance with facility guidelines.
  • Meet or exceed productivity and quality benchmarks.
  • Review and correct coding tasks as necessary.
  • Collaborate with the coding team to improve coding outcomes.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three years of facility inpatient (Diagnosis-Related Group) coding experience.
  • Active credential:
    Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) through the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).
  • Strong understanding of official coding guidelines and DRG assignment.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
  • Proficiency in electronic medical record systems and coding platforms.
  • Analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Knowledge of compliance standards and regulatory requirements.
