We are seeking an experienced Facility Inpatient Coder to join our remote team. This role is ideal for professionals who thrive in a collaborative environment and are committed to delivering high-quality, compliant coding.
- Job Type: Full-time
- Location: Remote
- Schedule: Monday to Friday
Note:
Candidates with a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) credential through the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) may be considered if they have extensive inpatient/DRG experience (7–10 years).
Key Responsibilities:
- Assign ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, MS-DRG, APR-DRG, POA, and discharge status codes based on thorough medical record review.
- Evaluate physician documentation and initiate queries when clarification is needed, in accordance with facility guidelines.
- Meet or exceed productivity and quality benchmarks.
- Review and correct coding tasks as necessary.
- Collaborate with the coding team to improve coding outcomes.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of three years of facility inpatient (Diagnosis-Related Group) coding experience.
- Active credential:
Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) through the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). - Strong understanding of official coding guidelines and DRG assignment.
- Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
- Proficiency in electronic medical record systems and coding platforms.
- Analytical problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Knowledge of compliance standards and regulatory requirements.
