Sponsored Residential Provider Opportunity
Create opportunities for independence by opening your home. Support Services of Virginia is looking for Sponsored Residential Providers throughout Central Virginia to provide long-term home-based support for adults with intellectual disabilities. Providers offer a safe and supportive household where individuals can develop independence and actively participate in their communities.
Who Can Apply
Support Services of Virginia contracts with:
- Individuals
- Couples or domestic partners
- Family households
Homes with children younger than 12 years old are generally not preferred.
Basic Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be at least 21 years old
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Be actively engaged within their community
- Have six months or more of personal or professional experience supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities, preferably adults
- Be comfortable using computers and electronic communication systems
- Demonstrate strong written communication skills
Applicants who do not yet meet the experience requirement may qualify for Direct Support Professional (DSP) opportunities with SSVA.
Relatives of eligible individuals may become Sponsored Residential Providers, although additional approval guidelines apply.
About the Program
Sponsored Residential Providers work as independent subcontractors in partnership with Support Services of Virginia and are not employees of SSVA.
Providers support all aspects of an individual's daily life while promoting independence, community engagement, and personal development. SSVA carefully matches provider homes with individuals based on compatibility, interests, and lifestyle preferences.
Additional Information
- Payments are issued every two weeks
- Certification may take up to three months
- Required training is provided free of charge
- Homes must meet applicable licensing requirements
- Applicants must provide detailed information about their household and lifestyle
- Providers are expected to comply with all program and licensing standards
- Providers should embrace diversity while supporting individuals with varying personalities and support needs
