**** Responsibilities
* * Health Research, Inc. is seeking a Program Research Specialist III to work within the Asthma Bureau, within the Center for Population Health Science, New York State Department of Health.  The incumbent will be responsible for data analysis and surveillance of asthma in New York State including the development and maintenance of the web-based interactive asthma data dashboard. Specific responsibilities include identifying, obtaining and analyzing various data sources to generate results for appropriate indicators to support asthma surveillance activities;

monitoring and implementing performance measurement systems, including federal performance measures, and performing data management and analysis activities to assess progress toward the state Strategic Plan for Asthma Control and Prevention Agenda goals; contributing to the NYSACP evaluation activities across multiple initiatives/settings, including data management activities, analysis and reporting; performing data preparation and analysis to contribute to the asthma dashboard, data-to-action reports, data briefs, and publications.

** Minimum Qualifications
** Bachelor’s degree in public health, epidemiology, health informatics, biostatistics or related field and three years of research experience in the collection and analysis of data; OR an Associate’s degree in a related field and five years of such experience; OR seven years of such experience. A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one year of such experience.
** Preferred Qualifications
** Master's degree in Public Health or related field and two years of experience in public health research, surveillance or evaluation; a doctorate in a related field; proficiency in data analysis, database and statistical software, interpretation, and dissemination of data for varied audiences; experience analyzing large public health data; background and experience with analyzing large public health data (BRFSS, emergency department, hospital discharge, and vital statistic data), linking large datasets, and in the interpretation of data analytic results, report writing and public presentation;

intermediate or advanced proficiency using SAS including proficient use of SAS BASE, SQL, GRAPH, STAT, ODS, MACRO; experience with HTML and Tableau software development.
** Conditions of Employment
** Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.

Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

The selected candidate must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the official work location specified in the job posting and must also be located in or willing to relocate to one of the following states:
New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Vermont, or Massachusetts, prior to hire.

This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule, with a combination of onsite and remote work.
