Job Summary

The Registered Behavioral Technician will provide clinical skills instruction and behavior reduction protocols based upon the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis. Clients include children with Autism and related developmental disabilities in the home, community, clinic, and school settings. The Behavioral Technician collects data on programs and assists with parent training. The RBT works under the supervision of a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst.

Job Functions / Responsibilities
  • Plan and implement intervention strategies using direct therapy, monitoring and consultation under the supervision of a BCBA.
  • Teach targeted behaviors using specialized techniques that may include reward systems, incidental teaching and pivotal response training.
  • Record and track data from training sessions.
  • Reinforce positive behavior with children on caseload.
  • Communicate effectively (orally and in writing) with administrators, parents and community members.
  • Provide accurate documentation of intervention, goals and objectives.
  • Facilitate transition among agencies, programs, and professionals as service provision changes (early intervention to pre-school, pre-school to school, etc.).
  • Identify emergency situations and determine appropriate action to ensure child safety.
  • Provide direct client care in 1:1 and group settings utilizing a combination of intensive teaching and natural environment training arrangements.
  • Follow prescribed behavior skill acquisition and behavior reduction protocols.
  • Assist with parent and caregiver training in line with client’s individualized treatment and behavior reduction protocols.
  • Effectively communicate with parents and caregivers regarding client progress as instructed by the Board Certified Behavior Analyst.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements
  • Hearing and speaking ability to communicate on the telephone.

  • Mobility for accessing photocopier, fax machine, etc.
  • English language proficiency for speaking and writing.
  • Ability to function independently and maintain personal integrity.
  • Flexibility of hours.
Psychological Requirements
  • Ability to recognize tasks to be done and perform them independently.
  • Ability to establish a responsible and trustworthy rapport with staff by being punctual and providing proper notification for absence and tardiness.

  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment under time constraints.
Intellectual Requirements
  • Ability to learn all Constellation Kids policies and procedures.
  • Judgment skills in processing telephone calls.
  • Organizational skills to establish priority of tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to operate all aspects of computer, photocopier and telephone.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions provided by the supervisor in both written and oral formats.
  • Ability to read, write and type.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a human services field from an accredited university AND one year of direct relevant experience working with youth and families who require behavior management to address mental health needs.
  • OR
  • Associate’s degree (60 college credits) AND a minimum of two years of direct relevant experience working with youth and families who require behavior management to address mental health needs.
  • Strong organization and communication skills are required.
  • Registered Behavior Technician certification is required.
