Job Summary

Healthy Families America is a voluntary home-based program whose staff receives extensive training in family assessment and home visitation. Staff will provide curriculum-based visits using the Growing Great Kids Curriculum over a long term to promote parent-child relationships and healthy childhood growth and development. Services are typically initiated prenatally or at birth.

Work Schedule and Location
  • This is a full-time, 40 hours per week position.
  • Monday
    - Friday, with a flexible schedule due to the nature of the work and level of responsibility.
  • In-person, hybrid, or home-based position.
  • May be required to work at any CCAP location (Cranston, Coventry office).
Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Family Counseling, Social Work, Psychology or related field.
  • Master’s Degree in Family Counseling, Social Work, Psychology/Sociology preferred.
  • Experience with home-based delivery of services and knowledge of Maternal and Child Learning.
  • Knowledge of infant and child development and parent-child attachment (Infant mental health endorsement and reflective practice preferred).
  • 1-year relevant supervisory experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), ability to write reports and create meeting agendas.
  • Provide/maintain all required immunizations and/or vaccinations.
  • Complete all required background checks.
Key Responsibilities
  • Attend all HFA trainings in the GGK curriculum including Parent Survey training, FROG training, RIDOH MIECHV, supervisor trainings, and other required trainings.
  • Provide regular supervision to direct service staff on a weekly basis and participate in Reflective Supervision training.
  • Attend regular Supervisory meetings with MIECHV, Department of Health team and LIT meetings.
  • Utilize the curriculum to support staff in serving families.
  • Monitor staff progress, goals, trainings, and areas of need; document in supervision notes.
  • Present information clearly and respond to questions from individuals seeking services at CCAP and the general public.
  • Identify and address substance abuse, mental health, domestic violence, etc., and refer to appropriate community resources; supervise staff accordingly.
  • Support staff in helping families meet their goals.
  • Maintain expertise in providing home-based services and in completing assessment procedures.
  • Maintain knowledge of infant and child development and parent-child attachment; maintain knowledge of parent-infant health and dynamics of child abuse and neglect.
  • Engage in reflective practice and demonstrate capacity for introspection and supervision value.
  • Assist staff with home visit documentation, assessments, and screenings within required time frames.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives; monitor and maintain data collection systems and entry.
  • Assist in selection, training and orientation; shadow home visits and monitor staff performance.
  • Maintain professional boundaries with families; adhere to child abuse and neglect reporting laws.
  • Complete data entry tasks accurately and on time; run reports to support program compliance, billing, HFA accreditation, and federal benchmarks.
  • Coordinate with referral sources and families to engage in services and schedule visits.
