POSITION OVERVIEW The Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health (IECMH) Consultant is responsible for providing hope centered and trauma informed Mental Health consultation and support. The IECMH Consultant collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to provide IECMH consultation to support relational health and well-being for Early Childhood staff, children, and their families. The IECMH Consultant will utilize evidence-based and best practice standards to ensure quality service delivery and support to clients and agency partners while ensuring compliance to agency policy, accrediting bodies, and state licensure requirements.

IECMH Consultations are expected to deliver high quality, client centered, and impactful services evidenced by positive outcome measurements and client self-reports.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Demonstrate capacity for providing developmentally sensitive, evidence-based, culturally sensitive, hope-centered, and trauma-informed services.

Deliver high quality, client-centered, impactful services evidenced by positive outcome measurements and client self-reports.

Provide case management and advocacy for clients, assisting them in obtaining needed benefits and resources, including, but not limited to: housing; employment; medical, recreation; social and family supports; nutritional information; medications, and childcare needs.

Differentiated responsibilities and activities are required for diverse client care, including consultation, client advocacy, goal planning, crisis intervention and follow up as needed, and education using agency-approved, evidenced based practices.

Facilitate referral of potential or current clients into the appropriate agency program(s) or to another community provider or partner if appropriate and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings as necessary.

Consultant will provide IECMHC to ECE centers, teachers, and home-based providers identified through referral from the Warmline, treatment team referral, or community connections.

Consultant may provide teleconsultation to home visitors or Early Intervention staff when appropriate to effectively address the social emotional needs of infants and toddlers within the service area.

Consultant will collaborate with local IMH clinicians to identify possible ECE centers for outreach and education.

Consultant will conduct outreach services to early childhood educators and centers to promote utilization of IECMHC services.

Consultant will develops written intervention strategies using a team approach to assist staff with positive behavior-support strategies to promote infants’ and young children’s optimal social-emotional development.

Consultant will participate in monthly technical assistance virtual meetings that include presentation of relevant content and/or case consultation.

Consultant may conduct trainings in their region for parents, community partners, and/or early childhood educators on relevant content including, but not limited to trauma, infant mental health, child development, reflective practice, etc.

Accurately complete all record keeping, documentation, and reporting functions in a timely manner as required by program and/or agency policy utilizing the agency designated Electronic Health Record (EHR) or other reporting systems.

Consultant will participate in meetings with CCFF grant team at least monthly (either via phone, email, Zoom, or in person).Consultant will participate in monthly meetings with the IECMHC training centers.

Consultant will participate in ongoing reflective consultation.

Consultant will attend local, regional or state meetings for the purpose of improving interagency collaboration and service delivery that supports growth of IECMHC network.

Participate in consultation as well as seek and accept consultation from leadership on challenging or difficult issues.
