Position Summary
Perform varied professional services to ensure medical/surgical and diagnostic/ancillary services are accomplished efficiently and reimbursement is maximized through required interaction with third‑party payers. The role includes pre‑determination, pre‑certification, scheduling, and coordination with physicians and payers.
PrimaryDuties & Responsibilities
- Initiate and facilitate pre‑determination process.
- Contact appropriate insurance companies for benefit verification and pre‑certification of surgical and nonsurgical procedures.
- Notify financial counselor for pre‑payment of uncoded services.
- Supply all documentation required during pre‑certification to insurance companies.
- Maintain daily surgery/procedure schedule for department faculty and coordinate with physicians and assistants.
- Maintain written log of all pre‑certifications in process and notify hospital utilization/billing department.
- Document receipt of pre‑certification from insurance companies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Normal patient care setting. Typically seated at a desk. Repetitive wrist, hand, or finger movements. Use of office equipment.
Required Qualifications- Education:

Certified Professional Coder (CPC) – AAPC, Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) – AHIMA. - Experience:
No additional work experience required. - Skills:
Communication, customer service, insurance coordination, managed care.
Grade C08‑H, $21.33 – $31.98 per hour. Individual rates within the range are determined by qualifications, performance, equity, market rates, and department budget.
