Medical Receptionist, Medical Billing and Coding
Position Status:
Full time.
Shift: First Shift (Days, less than 12 hours per shift).
Location:
United States of America. Hours per week: 40. Exemption Status:
Non-Exempt.
Registration staff graciously greet all patients and visitors to Stormont Vail. They provide a positive image to customers by creating a friendly atmosphere and placing a high priority on meeting customer needs in a courteous manner.
Responsibilities- Receive and check patients in as they arrive for their appointment; collect demographics and insurance information from patients.
- Schedule patient appointments.
- Answer the telephone and receive messages for physicians and staff.
- Receive co-payment for services when applicable.
- Initiate the admission process and receive payment for services.
- Assist with department administrative or clerical processes.
- Assist with department communication as needed.
- Maintain accurate records in department systems.
- Process payments for services; assist with insurance processing and authorization.
- Assist with billing processes.
- Assist with onboarding new staff into the department.
- Communicate with department personnel to ensure staff are aware of necessary events or information.
- Receive and distribute mail/packages.
- Conduct reports as requested.
Complies with all policies, standards, mandatory training, and requirements of Stormont Vail Health. Performs other duties as assigned.

- Education:
High School Diploma or GED. - Experience:
1 year in customer service; experience in an office setting. - Preferred Billing or payment processing experience.
- Preferred typing or computer usage experience.
- Knowledge of patient rights and laws such as HIPAA.
- Understanding of complex problems, organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures.
- Basic medical terminology knowledge of the department.
