The Medical Science Director is a field-based medical affairs professional responsible for building scientific relationships with healthcare providers, key opinion leaders, and healthcare systems across oncology and related specialty therapeutic areas. This role serves as a clinical and scientific resource, facilitating evidence-based discussions, gathering medical insights, supporting clinical research initiatives, and collaborating cross-functionally to help inform medical strategy, education, and patient care.
The position combines scientific engagement, healthcare ecosystem collaboration, and medical affairs leadership to support both marketed and pipeline therapies.
- Support medical affairs activities across oncology, infectious disease, nephrology, and acute care through compliant scientific exchange and insight gathering.
- Engage with healthcare providers, KOLs, pharmacy stakeholders, and institutional decision-makers to foster trusted relationships within inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Assist in the development and execution of medical strategy, including publication planning and evidence dissemination.
- Identify and support clinical trial sites, investigators, and referral networks to facilitate study enrollment and execution.
- Respond to unsolicited medical information requests in compliance with corporate policies and regulatory guidelines.
- Provide scientific education and training to internal teams and collaborate within a matrix organization to achieve medical objectives.
- Advanced healthcare or scientific degree (PharmD, PhD, DNP, NP, PA-C, or equivalent).
- Ability to travel 60-70% across assigned territories
- Prior clinical experience working with Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) patients
- Oncology experience a plus, along with additional experience in infectious disease, nephrology, or critical care strongly preferred.
- Exceptional scientific communication and presentation skills.
- Strong relationship-building abilities with healthcare providers and institutional stakeholders.
- Proficiency in scientific literature evaluation, medical data interpretation, and insight gathering.
- Ability to operate independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and compliance orientation.
