Position Overview
Position Status:
Part time. Shift: 12 hour day shift (United States). Hours per week: 24. Job Information Exemption Status:
Non-Exempt.
Registration staff graciously greet patients and visitors, create a friendly atmosphere, and prioritize meeting customer needs in a courteous manner. Responsibilities include receiving and checking patients in, collecting demographics and insurance information, scheduling appointments, answering telephone and receiving messages for physicians and staff, receiving co‑payment for services when applicable, and initiating the admission process.
Responsibilities- Receive patients, physicians, and employees to the department.
- Collect all necessary demographics, information, and documentation to accurately process each individual.
- Schedule appointments, tests, procedures, or lab work for the department.
- Answer department phone, address questions, or transfer callers as appropriate.
- Respond to basic questions about the department’s functioning.
- Assist with department administrative or clerical processes.
- Assist with department communication as needed.
- Maintain accurate records in department systems.
- Receive and process payments for services.
- Assist with insurance processing and authorization.
- Assist in onboarding new staff into the department.
- Communicate to department personnel to ensure staff are aware of necessary events or information.
- Assist in the billing process.
- Receive and distribute mail/packages.
- Conduct reports as requested.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- At least 1 year of customer service experience, preferably in an office setting.
- Experience typing and using a computer.
- Preferred billing or payment processing experience.
- Knowledge of patient rights and laws, such as HIPAA.
- Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
- Knowledge of organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures.
- Ability to learn and understand basic medical terminology used in the department.
- Complies with all policies, standards, mandatory training, and requirements of Stormont Vail Health.
- Performs other duties as assigned to support the department.

- Kneeling: rarely less than 1 hour.
- Lifting: occasionally 1‑3 hours up to 25 lbs.
- Pulling: occasionally 1‑3 hours up to 25 lbs.
- Pushing: occasionally 1‑3 hours up to 25 lbs.
- Reaching (forward, overhead): occasionally 1‑3 hours up to 25 lbs.
- Repetitive motions: frequently 3‑5 hours.
- Sitting: frequently 3‑5 hours.
- Standing: occasionally 1‑3 hours.
- Stooping: rarely less than 1 hour.
- Talking: occasionally 1‑3 hours.
- Walking: occasionally 1‑3 hours.
- Exposure to hazards such as chemical, dust, mechanical, or other low‑level conditions described as rarely or occasionally.
- Workspace must be quiet and distraction‑free to comply with security and privacy standards.
- Reliable power and minimum 25mb/s upload Internet speed required.
- Full attention to job duties and communication during working hours.
- Adhere to break and attendance schedules agreed with supervisor.
- Abide by Stormont Vail’s Remote Worker Policy and review the Remote Work Agreement annually.
