Position: Registrar - Behavioral Health Registrations - PT - Day (Weekends)

Registration Staff

Shift: 12 Hour Day Shift (United States of America)

Hours Per Week: 24

Position Status: Part time

Exemption Status: Non-Exempt

A Brief Overview

Registration staff graciously greet all patients and visitors to Stormont Vail. They provide a positive image to customers by creating a friendly atmosphere and placing a high priority on meeting customer needs in a courteous manner. They receive and check patients in as they arrive for their appointment; collect demographics and insurance information; schedule patient appointments; answer telephone and receive messages for physicians and staff;

and receive co-payment for services when applicable. They initiate the admission process and receive payment for services.

Education Qualifications
  • High School Diploma / GED Required
Experience Qualifications
  • 1 year experience in customer service. Required
  • Experience in an office setting. Preferred
  • Billing or payment processing experience. Preferred
  • Experience typing or using a computer. Preferred
Skills And Abilities
  • Knowledge of patient rights and laws relative to those rights, such as HIPAA
  • Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Knowledge of organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures.
  • Ability to learn and understand basic medical terminology used in the department.
What you will do
  • Receive patients, physicians, and employees to the department. Collect all necessary demographics, information and documentation to accurately process the individual.
  • Schedule appointments, tests, procedures or lab work for the department.
  • Answer department phone, answer questions or transfer the caller as appropriate. Is able to answer basic questions about the department's functioning.
  • Assist with department administrative or clerical processes. Assist with department communication as needed. Maintain accurate records in department systems.
  • Receive and process payments for services.
  • Assist with insurance processing and authorization.
  • Assist with on-boarding new staff into the department.
  • Communicate to department personnel to ensure staff are aware of necessary events or information.
  • Assist in the billing process.
  • Receive and distribute mail/packages.
  • Conduct reports as requested.
