Job Description
The psychologist provides a full range of psychological evaluations, tests, interventions, consultations and referral services as assigned by the supervisor. The psychologist will train staff in matters of psychology and mental illness. This position will also function as a member of a multi-disciplinary treatment team providing a range of psychological services to prisoners within the Michigan Department of Corrections, some of whom may be diagnosed with severe mental disorders.
The psychologist delivers sex offender treatment and assessment services and works with community supervision and treatment for sex offenders. Other duties include working with hospitalized, medically ill and special populations. The psychologist is responsible for all aspects of mental health evaluation, referral to the appropriate level of care, treatment of prisoners, monitoring progress, ensuring continuity of care and assisting with placement and services when the prisoner is discharged to the community.

One year of professional experience providing psychological treatment equivalent to a Psychologist 9. - Psychologist P11:
Two years of professional experience providing psychological treatment equivalent to a Psychologist, including one year equivalent to a Psychologist 10.

Possession of a temporary master's limited license, master's limited license, doctoral limited license, or full license to practice psychology in Michigan.

Training and DevelopmentNew hires, along with prior MDOC employees returning after more than two years away, must complete Non-Custody New Employee Training (NCNET) of either 40 or 80 hours of initial in-person training based on level of offender contact and job classification. All new employees will complete additional online training to finish their non-custody new employee training.
