Inpatient Pharmacy Technician

Norfolk, VA – Sentara Leigh Hospital

Full Time (40 hrs/wk) – Rotating, 8‑hour shifts; 6am-11pm; weekends every other weekend; holiday rotation. Hours may vary to meet pharmacy staffing needs.

Sentara is hiring a full‑time Inpatient Pharmacy Technician at Sentara Leigh Hospital in Norfolk, VA. $5,000 sign‑on bonus for qualified candidates.

• Fills and delivers medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner
• Ensures adequate supplies for continuous patient care
• Triages and escalates questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician's scope of practice as needed
• Uses appropriate systems for processing patient information
• Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements
• Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately
• In addition to the above responsibilities, other duties may be assigned
• A pharmacy technician license is required in the state of practice

• High School Diploma or Equivalent

• Virginia Pharmacy Tech License (Required)
• CPhT License (preferred, eg, through NHA or PTCB)

• Previous Pharmacy Experience (preferred)

Located in Norfolk, VA, it is a 274‑bed acute care facility opened in 1903, relocated to its current site in 1977. The hospital offers specialized orthopedic, spine, heart, vascular, maternity, general surgery, and a 24‑hour hyperbaric oxygen program.
