Community Engagement Consultant

Overview: Responsible for coordinating and implementing community outreach campaigns, workshops, forums, or other events. Coordinates all aspects of event management including planning, staging, logistics, promotions and vendors. Enhances the Sentara brand through reputation building with community leaders, legislators and other key influencers. Identifies key community offerings, opportunities and events where the company should be represented. Identifies entities, populations and segments where we should be associated and develops relationships with those entities.

Develops databases of groups that can be used for outreach as these groups would serve as company ambassadors. Serves as a relationship manager with ambassador populations. Assists in identifying opportunities for key memberships, sponsor ships and grant giving associated with corporate social responsibility. Assists in the administration of the funding for these opportunities. Represents the company at key events emphasizing those that are healthcare related, corporate social responsibility focused, community oriented and/or demonstrating the healthcare economic impact in communities.

Must be willing to travel.

Work Shift: First (Days)

• Bachelor's Degree + 5 years of experience in community outreach and engagement, public relations, and event planning required.
• Master's degree in public policy, public health, healthcare administration or business preferred.

• Experience in hosting and developing community events.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in digital applications and databases.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Solid knowledge of healthcare industry is desired.
• Demonstrated ability to elicit support and enthusiasm from corporate executives, managers, employees and supporting departments to effectively implement corporate vision and mission.
