Registered Dietitian- PER Diem-Remote
Job Description
Responsible for nutritional care of patients. Plans, assesses, implements, and evaluates patient nutritional care plan. Assists in menu modifications and other nutritional related functions.
Job Responsibilities- May mentor and train team members.
- Responsible for accurately and responsively performing varied clinical tasks and problems of minimal complexity.
- Interview patient and/or family for nutritional history, obtain patient food preferences, assess patients, and document in patients’ medical record.
- Conduct nutritional assessment, develop and implement patient‑specific care plans, and assist in recommending nutrition care plans to medical staff for review and consideration.
- Recommend therapeutic diet modifications and/or supplemental feedings to physicians for patients, and ensure accuracy of diet orders received by checking against physician’s orders.
- Provide nutritional guidance, education, and counseling to patients and their families in accordance with the prescribed diet. Calculate nutrient content of tube feeding and dietary intakes as ordered by physicians.
- Contribute to changes to patient menu, including patient food preferences, and the development of standardized recipes, as well as assist in overseeing food‑service workers in proper food handling and portion control.
- Support a clinical function to assist clinical team members and department or unit management with carrying out daily clinical operations.
- Prepare, present, and conduct individual and group education classes, and refer clients to community services, as needed. Participate in and promote Northwell wellness initiatives.
- Develop and utilize effective lines of communication regarding nutrition information within the program and community.
- Provide in‑services to culinary, food‑service, and interdisciplinary teams regarding therapeutic diets and related topics.
- Participate in Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement related tasks, including data collection and executing tasks related to it, as directed.
- Solve or escale operational problems and technical issues to senior team members and management; modify existing tools or processes.

Master’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience, required.
Current Registered Dietitian Certification with the Commission on Dietetic Registration, required.
Certified Dietitian Nutritionist in New York State (CDN), as needed.
Advanced/specialized certifications, as needed.
1‑3 Years Of Relevant Experience, Required.
