Patient Access Associate Specialist

Ensemble is a leading provider of technology‑enabled revenue cycle management solutions for health systems, including hospitals and affiliated physician groups. The role is a PRN (per‑in‑termittent) on‑site position at Covenant – St Joseph Healthcare in Bangor, Maine, and focuses on patient admission and access functions.

• Assign accurate MRNs, complete medical necessity and compliance checks, provide patient instructions, collect insurance information, receive and process physician orders, and use overlay tools while delivering excellent customer service as measured by Press Ganey.
• Operate the telephone switchboard to relay incoming, outgoing, and inter‑office calls.
• Adhere to policies, provide compassionate customer service, and meet point‑of‑service goals.
• Utilize quality auditing and reporting systems to correct accounts, conduct audits, and ensure all required forms are completed accurately and timely.
• Perform pre‑registration of patient accounts, including inbound/outbound calls to obtain demographic, insurance, and financial liability information, and collect point‑of‑service payments and past‑due balances with payment plan options.
• Explain consent forms, obtain necessary signatures, distribute educational documents, and handle all required paperwork for future services.
• Review insurance verification responses, select applicable plan codes, enter benefit data to support POS collections, and assist with clean claim rates.
• Screen medical necessity using ABN software, inform Medicare patients of possible non‑payment, and distribute ABNs and other designated forms.

• 1+ year of customer service experience.
• Inquisitive and open to innovating processes, including AI, to improve patient and client experiences.

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• CRCR certification required within 6 months of hire (company paid).

Pay range: $18.00 – $19.15 per hour, based on experience. This PRN position is on‑site at Covenant – St Joseph Healthcare in Bangor, ME.
