Job Description Summary

The Behavioral Technician will provide clinical skills instruction and behavior reduction protocols based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis for children with Autism and related developmental disabilities in home, community, clinic, and school settings. The role includes data collection, parent training support, and documentation under the supervision of a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst.

Essential Job Functions / Responsibilities
  • Plan and implement intervention strategies using direct therapy, monitoring, and consultation under the supervision of a BCBA.
  • Teach targeted behaviors using reward systems, incidental teaching, and pivotal response training.
  • Record and track data from training sessions.
  • Reinforce positive behavior with children on caseload.
  • Communicate effectively (orally and in writing) with administrators, parents, and community members.
  • Provide accurate documentation of intervention, goals, and objectives.
  • Facilitate transitions among agencies and programs as service provision changes.
  • Identify emergency situations and determine appropriate action to ensure child safety.
  • Provide direct client care in 1:1 and group settings using intensive teaching and natural environment training arrangements.
  • Follow prescribed behavior skill acquisition and behavior reduction protocols.
  • Assist with parent and caregiver training in line with individualized treatment plans.
  • Communicate client progress to parents and caregivers as directed by the Board Certified Behavior Analyst.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements
  • Hearing and speaking ability to communicate on the telephone.

  • Mobility required for accessing office equipment.
  • Ability to speak and write English in an understandable manner.
  • Independent functioning with personal integrity.

  • Understand and follow written and oral instructions from a supervisor.
  • Read, write, and type.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a human services field from an accredited university AND one year of direct relevant experience working with youth and families requiring behavior management for mental health needs.
  • Or associate’s degree (60 college credits) AND a minimum of two years of direct relevant experience working with youth and families requiring behavior management for mental health needs.
  • Strong organization and communication skills.
  • Registered Behavior Technician certification is a plus.
