WNY State Respite Coordinator

Hourly Rate:
Up to $22.00 per hour
Status:
Non-Exempt (37.5 hours a week)
The WNY State Respite Coordinator is responsible for outreach to all agencies who serve caregivers of a person 60+ in the following counties:
Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, Genesee, Niagara, Orleans, and Wyoming Counties. State Respite services provide infrequent and temporary substitute care or supervision for adults who are frail or have disabilities.
The goals of the State Respite Program are to:
- Provide caregivers with relief and support from the physical, emotional, and mental stress associated with caregiving
- Allow caregivers time to address their own personal needs
- Support individuals in remaining in their communities by preventing or delaying institutionalization
Duties and Responsibilities
Information and assistance to caregivers
Support and coordinate training for respite program volunteers
Oversee established respite sites in the region
Case management for persons 60+
Outreach to organizations and caregivers
Promote the Erie County Social Adult Day group respite voucher program.
Requirements
Qualifications
Education:
Associates Degree, BS or BA or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience:
Knowledge of community resources and experience working in volunteerism helpful
Physical and Mental Requirements
Must be able to work independently as this is a remote position
Strong interpersonal skills necessary
Excellent verbal, written and telephone communication skills required.
Computer skills (MS Office,) Docuware, Microix and strong Excel skills a plus
Work is performed at a desk or personal computer station
Ability to work in multi-cultural situations
Must have reliable transportation – much of work is performed offsite
Ability to work independently.
