Overview
Part‑time, night shift (7:00 pm–7:30 am) with an additional every other weekend night shift (7:00 pm–7:30 am). As a Patient Access Representative with Sentara, you will handle all aspects of the patient registration process, from verifying patient identity to managing demographic and insurance information in the electronic health record.
Responsibilities- Verify patient identity and select the correct patient record.
- Review schedules and physician orders to register patients for the appropriate service.
- Scan essential documents (insurance cards, IDs, living wills, POAs) and enter demographic and insurance data into the electronic health record.
- Explain and complete complex regulatory and compliance documents while adhering to privacy and compliance standards.
- Explain and collect co‑payments, deposits, and outstanding balances, and perform secure transactions.
- Serve as the first point of contact for patients, greet patients and families, answer questions, and ensure patients arrive at the correct service area on time.
- Perform scheduling, pre‑admission, and discharge duties, and provide updates to families in waiting rooms.

Qualifications- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Two years of customer service and/or data entry experience, or an associate or bachelor’s degree as a substitute.
- Proficiency in keyboarding.
- No specific certification or licensure requirements.
