Position: Clinical Informaticist - Hybrid Role

Summary

The Clinical Informaticist is responsible for implementing and maintaining informatics programs across the Theda Care footprint. Creates and fosters relationships between operational stakeholders, end users, IS teams and other partners to utilize and improve solutions within the EHR and clinical realms. Experienced in workflow and functional analysis and solutioning. Engages in projects to improve documentation and workflow quality, efficiency and/or alignment with key goals and needs.

Routinely reviews current functionality against EHR capability to recommend optimization or efficiency projects.

Key Accountabilities
  • Uses clinical, informatics and organizational expertise to identify key needs for organizational efficiency, improvement or optimization for clinical and documentation workflows.
  • Provides guidance and support in planning, development and implementation of new functionality or programs.
  • Advocates for clinical users, quality and efficiency in use of technology solutions.
  • Focuses on Theda Care system strategy and drives outcomes to meet the organizational needs.
  • Utilizes analytics to extract meaningful insights from data to provide recommendations to improve outcomes based on data.
  • Collaborates with Operations, IS, regulatory and other teams to enhance clinical practice, ensure the effective use of information systems, Epic and decision support tools.
  • Participates in multiple system projects and committees that impact technology solutions including technology, policy and practice focus areas.
  • Offers perspective to ensure standardization wherever possible, and alignment with core organizational tenets, regulatory or compliance needs and impact on other systems or users.
  • Creates and fosters relationships with key stakeholders and leaders to support informatics solutions that meet operational needs, including the planning, execution, evaluation and optimization phases of all projects.
  • Utilizes strong communication and partnership skills to function as a resource to all levels of team members across the organization.
  • Utilizes key project management and system design life cycle concepts.
  • Partners closely with Instructional Designers and educators to ensure programs and curricula are accurate and up to date.
  • Maintains proficiency in use of different technologies.
  • Routinely reviews outcome criteria and assists with development of improvement plans in partnership with stakeholders and IS.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing or other clinical field or Associate’s degree in nursing plus bachelor’s degree in education.
  • 5 years clinical experience of which at least 3 are in clinical informatics, clinical education, IS, or similar role with a workflow development or evaluation experience, training experience, application knowledge or similar combination of skills and experience.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations as they relate to clinical and documentation practices.
  • Epic certification required within 6 months of hire or promotion.
  • Accredited national clinical certification, HIMSS certification, ANCC Clinical Informatics certification preferred.
Physical Demands

Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of twenty-five (25) pounds without assistance. Normally works in climate controlled office environment or hybrid workspace. Frequent sitting with movement throughout office space. Travel may be required as necessary to meet organizational needs. Use of computers throughout work day. Frequent use of keyboard with repetitive motion of hands, wrist and fingers.
