This position invites you to join our Radiation Oncology team at Garnet Health Medical Center‑Middletown as a Medical Physicist.
ResponsibilitiesThe Radiation Oncology Medical Physicist works independently on all medical physics duties, including providing technical direction to Medical Dosimetrists, Therapists for external beam, stereotactic radiosurgery, prostate implants, IMRT, IGRT, SBRT, and HDR treatments. The physicist is capable of performing 3D, IMRT/VMAT, SRS, SBRT, and HDR brachytherapy treatment plans as needed based on clinical need.
CompensationThe compensation range for the role is $–$240,006, Salaried. This range complies with New York State law on salary transparency. Additional compensation elements such as bonuses or differential pay are not included in this range.
Qualifications- Minimum Education:
Master’s Degree or Doctorate in Radiological Physics or a closely related field such as physics, biophysics, or health physics. - Minimum Experience:
Minimum three years of full‑time work experience. - Required Certification/Registration:
Certification by the American Board of Radiology (A ) in Therapeutic Radiology Physics or American Board of Medical Physics (ABMP) in Therapeutic Radiology Physics, or eligibility. New York State license required. - Board Certified Medical Physicist:
Must be able to work independently on all medical physics duties and provide technical direction to medical dosimetrists and therapists. - Medical Physicist:
Pass Part II of the A board exam or obtain it within two years of hire; the New York State license application must be submitted within 30 days of license eligibility.
- Stands a considerable part of the day and has considerable mental and visual demands.
- Must maintain alertness and control of equipment while observing patient condition.
- Capability to lift up to 10 lbs and perform full anatomical range of motion.
- Works in a clean, well‑lit, heated or ventilated facility with no routine exposure to hazards.
- For hybrid or remote positions:
The position may require on‑site work if deemed operationally necessary. - May be required to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends.
