Remote OP Facility Coder

Location: Remote office Santa Fe, NM 87501

Compensation: Pay Range:
Minimum Offer $22.79 Maximum Offer $38.80

Type: Full time

Work Shift: Varied Days and Hours (United States of America)

Responsibilities
  • Code inpatient, outpatient, ED, Home Health & Hospice records and professional fee services for PMG specialty providers, using ICD‑9/10 CM and CPT‑4 classification system.
  • Ensure adherence to Hospital and Departmental Policies and Procedures.
  • Review patients’ current medical records, assigning appropriate CPT, ICD, and MS‑DRG codes in accordance with UHDDS guidelines and CMS, to support financial reimbursement and research.
  • Research medical records via multiple systems to complete coding promptly.
  • Take responsibility for accounts receivable by locating missing documents and generating appropriate queries.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date technical knowledge of legal and regulatory information (ICD‑9/10 CM, CPT‑4, HCPCS, DRG, APC, HHRG updates).
  • Resolve pre‑bill edits, denials, and other payment issues for assigned accounts.
  • Participate in departmental in‑services and updates to stay current with coding guidelines.
  • Communicate issues to the EW Clinical Coding Manager as appropriate.
  • Maintain at least a 95% accuracy rate and meet productivity standards set by PHS.
  • Maintain Continuing Education (CE) requirements per PHS policy.
  • Perform other functions as required.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Possess one of the following coding certifications at hire: HCS‑D, CCS, CCS‑P, CPC‑H, or RHIT/RHIA, with attainment within one year of hire.
  • Three to five years of coding experience required; inpatient coding experience preferred.
