Job Summary The EEG Technologist performs routine EEGs, LTMs, as well as more advanced testing (per program guidelines); recognizes clinically significant events and patterns; follows policy and procedures regarding critical test results; communicates with team members. Monitors LTM patients (on-site), evaluates, annotates, and classifies ictal, interictal, and paroxysmal events from EEG/video data. Recognizes physiologic and non-physiologic artifacts.## Responsibilities
* Perform head measurement/marking according to the international 10-20 measuring system and accurately place and secure electrodes.
* Acquires satisfactory EEG recordings according to ACNS guidelines.
* Can fix electrodes, perform activation procedures such as HV and Photic, disconnect and move patients, and set up rooms.
* Performs routine and portable EEGs on any patient independently.
* Performs ECOG, ictal-SPECT, PET, WADA, surgical EEG language and motor mappings, LTM, Ambulatory and ICU video EEG monitoring under general supervision.
* Can recognize basic EEG state changes (awake/drowsy/ sleep)
* Has advanced EEG pattern and seizure recognition knowledge.
* Participates in EEG rounds and EEG reviews.
* Meets the ASET's National Competency Skill Standards.
* Trains new staff/students.
* Performs measurement check-offs.
* Has hospital training to alert supervisor and/or activate hospital systems, such as rapid response, cardiac arrest, etc., per established protocols when encountering patient clinical issues.
* Follows the seizure action plan.
* Perform other related duties as assigned.##
Required Qualifications
** Electroencephalograph Technologist Registered
*** High school graduation with basic science course work or an equivalent combination of education and experience
* R.EEG T. Certification by the American Board of Registration for Electroencephalographic Technologist
* Reasonable experience as an EEG Technician
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with patients and healthcare team members
* This classification requires Primary Source Verification
** Electroencephalograph Technologist Non-Registered
*** High school graduation with basic science course work or an equivalent combination of education and experience
* Basic knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the body
* Eligibility or certification by the American Board of Registration for Electroencephalographic Technologist. Must obtain credentials within the eligible pathway timeframe, calculated from the date of hire to continue employment.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with patients and healthcare team members## Desired Qualifications
