Certified Peer Support Specialist - Family Centered Treatment

Lutheran Social Services of WI and Upper MI (LSS) is looking for a dedicated and passionate Hybrid-Remote, Certified Peer Support Specialist to join our Family Centered Treatment Team. This is a part-time, as needed position. There is an additional $1/hour for candidates that are bilingual in Spanish, and a $1.50 per hour increase upon completing the FCT Peer Endorsement Certification. This role will work primarily with clients navigating substance use recovery and will serve Milwaukee and Sheboygan counties.

A Certified Peer Support Specialist is a person who has lived experience of mental health and/or substance use challenges and has completed formal training and certification in the peer specialist model of mental health and substance use-oriented peer support.

The FCT team is a fully implemented and home-based evidence‑based trauma treatment model used to stabilize or reunify families. Our goal is to help families identify practical solutions to keep them together in the community and to treat inter‑generational trauma.

As a Certified Peer Support Specialist with the Family Centered Treatment Program, you will:

• Work a flexible weekly schedule that includes some evening hours for client appointments, based on client/family availability.
• Learn the evidence‑based framework of FCT and the four phases of treatment, including completing online FCT training supported by the supervisor and team trainer.
• Provide direct peer support using methods compatible with FCT principles and practices for assigned cases and meet fidelity requirements for treatment intensity (5 hours per week per family).
• Maintain clear, concise, and timely documentation records in an Electronic Health Record system to meet state, county and EBP standards.
• Collaborate with all relevant systems and key participants to ensure buy‑in and cooperation throughout FCT treatment.
• Participate in weekly individual and team supervision and provide kind, direct, and honest feedback to team members, including participation in peer reviews.
• Participate in a rotating 24/7 phone support system that has been established by the team or as needed for clients that are engaged in Peer Support Services.

Essential Skills and

Qualifications:

• Education:
  
  HS diploma or equivalent
• Experience:
  
  2+ years work experience with family systems, trauma, and/or SUD diagnoses preferred.
• Licenses:
  Valid driver's license and no more than 3 moving violations in the last 3 years and no OWI’s in the last 3 years. No more than 1 OWI in the last 5 years.
• Reliable transportation is required.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

• Wisconsin Certified as a Peer Specialist
• The incumbent of this position must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation to perform the essential duties of the role; a motor vehicle check (MVR) with a satisfactory driving record per the LSS Driver Safety Procedure is required, and ability to meet LSS auto insurance requirements.
