Job Overview
Oak Street Health, a rapidly growing community‑based healthcare organization, is recruiting a Medical Assistant/Phlebotomist to support team‑based primary care for adults on Medicare in underserved communities.
Role DescriptionThe Medical Assistant/Phlebotomist will work closely with providers, nurses, and care team members to deliver high‑touch, patient‑centered care. Responsibilities include facilitating patient flow, communicating effectively, performing routine diagnostics, and maintaining the clinical environment.
Core Responsibilities- Ensure efficient patient flow by rooming patients promptly and helping the provider stay on schedule.
- Delivers an exceptional patient experience and assists patients in preparing for their provider visit.
- Obtains vital signs, records chief complaints, and reviews medications.
- Performs patient screenings according to protocols.
- Orders supplies and stocks exam rooms.
- Conducts routine quality‑control checks, including infection‑control measures, equipment QA, and checks for expired medication and supplies.
- Ensures exam rooms are clean, safe, and ready for patient visits.
- Under direction of an RN, provider, or protocol, provides telephonic support to patients.
- Assists providers, RNs, or social workers with home‑based support for high‑risk members as needed.
- Under direction of an RN or provider, performs appropriate visits such as administering vaccinations and performing procedures (ABI, spirometry, EKG, etc.).
- Performs waived laboratory testing.
- Schedules diagnostic testing.
- Applies or assists with the application of durable medical equipment.
- Supports the care team with obtaining medical records and ensuring records are scanned into the EMR per protocols.
- Participates in care‑team meetings to discuss patient care and clinic operations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- CPR Certification required.
- Medical Assistant certification or registration.
- 3–5 years in a Medical Assistant role preferred.
- EMR experience required.
- 2 or more years of experience working with geriatric patients.
- Phlebotomy Technician Certification preferred.
- Strong communication skills and customer‑service orientation.
- Demonstrates problem‑solving skills, accountability, and a flexible, positive attitude.
- Fluency in Spanish, Polish, Russian, or other languages spoken by community members (where necessary).
- US work authorization.

Anticipated weekly hours: 40. Time type:
Full time. Pay range: $18.50–$35.29 hourly. The position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission, or short‑term incentive program in addition to base pay.
