The Public Health Nurse is a local immunization expert and resource for medical practices, schools, childcare providers, and the public in Newport District Office. The focus of this position is to conduct quality improvement visits to healthcare providers enrolled in the Vaccines for Children (VFC) program, training them in immunization best practices and working with them to increase vaccine coverage rates.

Duties also include oversight of the local district office vaccine program, including vaccine ordering, management, and vaccine administration; leading office and community vaccination clinics for community members who have limited access to care; and working collaboratively with colleagues and community partners to identify immunization gaps and disparities.

Duties primarily performed in a standard office setting. Work may be performed in clinic settings and possibly client homes. Exposure to communicable diseases and other stressful situations may occur. Private means of transportation is required. May be required to work evenings, weekends and 12 hour shifts.

Associate's degree in nursing AND five (5) years or more of professional nursing experience INCLUDING three (3) or more years in public health or community health nursing*.
