School-based Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) - Springfield, IL
Pay = $20/hour
Schedule = Mon-Fri 12-8pm
Under the general direction of the Director of Behavioral Health, serves as the Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) working with classrooms and residential homes; provides coaching and direction for Habilitation Specialists and Paraprofessionals working in those areas; participates in the training of home staff who work with children and who are engaged in daily living activities. Provides direction to staff in the homes on proper behavioral techniques;
both proactive and reactive; works in conjunction with the Behavioral Case Managers to extend clinical oversight/consult in residential homes and classrooms. The position will work as a liaison for behavioral health professional to provide training, materials, and feedback to residential staff members in a behavioral capacity.
Ensures a physical support and presence on each assigned group home during each scheduled shift; documents observations, training and important information from each visit in Therap in a timely fashion.
Provides emergent and physical response to behavioral crisis reported from group homes or classrooms; serves to direct, counsel or intervene/provide relief for employees actively participating in verbal or physical de-escalation.
Ensures staff at the homes are engaging children in scheduled activities/or activity; checks home book for accuracy and presence of documentation; provides input to Behavior Health professional regarding the appropriateness of behavioral programs and implementation.
Ensures correct levels of supervision are implemented as established by Behavioral Support Plans.
Ensures Behavior data is completed on residents and students with targeted behaviors; mentors staff when appropriate to ensure this is accurately completed; provides feedback to Behavioral Health professional.
Responds to emergencies within the Plex; ensures appropriate action is being taken and appropriate documentation occurs.
Conducts behavior drills.
Assumes responsibility as a mandated reporter concerning incidents of purported abuse/neglect of the residents and students as outlined in the Agency Policies and Procedures.
Assumes responsibility for assuring compliance of client rights and program delivery as defined in the Illinois Department of Mental Health Code and the Confidentiality Act, as well as the Child Care Act of the Department of Children and Family Services.
Serves and participates on committees as assigned.
Working conditions include office work, primarily in an indoor environment, free from extreme weather conditions. Work is performed in a school as well as in various community-based group homes serving children with autism and other intellectual disabilities; employees may be subject to intermittent exposure to loud sounds and potential injury (due to loud youth verbalizations and youth aggressive behaviors). Environment is fast-paced and requires frequent interaction with staff and administrators as well as regular travel to various work sites.
The Registered Behavior Technician requires the ability to lift, push, pull or carry up to 50 pounds of force at any time and require the ability to physically respond to emergent crisis in the homes and classrooms. The position may be subject to prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer or walking, standing and traveling to various work sites as needed and requires the ability to effectively implement all aspects of safety care.
This position requires the ability to use their hands to handle, control or feel objects, tools, controls or people and will require the ability to see details while driving, as well as the details of group homes, classrooms and human interactions within those classrooms.
Knowledge of Hope Residential Academy programs and best practices.
Knowledge of evidence-based practice in the treatment and education of person with autism and developmental disabilities.
