Job Summary:

The Multi-Modality Imaging Technologist performs routine and complex imaging exams in assigned modalities which may include a combination of the following dependent on advanced certification and competency:
Xray, CT, MRI, Mammography, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, PET/CT, Interventional Radiology. Multi-Modality Imaging technologists are responsible for the administration of ionizing radiation for diagnostic exams, use of radio frequencies, and/or multi-frequency sound waves for diagnostic, therapeutic, or research purposes. The Multi-Modality Imaging Technologist acquires and analyzes data needed for diagnosis, interpretation and the performance of imaging exams and procedures at the request of and for interpretation by a licensed practitioner.

Multi-Modality Imaging technologists prepare, administer and document activities related to medications in accordance with federal and state laws, regulations, or lawful institutional policy. The Multi-Modality Technologist must be flexible in job assignments, willing and able to learn new skills, and is required to maintain annual competencies in all assigned modalities. Multi-Modality Technologists must actively contribute to patient care across multiple modalities within their scheduled shifts and/or maintain active placement on more than one modality schedule during each pay period.

Job Duties:
  • Ensures correct order is obtained, patient is properly identified and prepared for exam, and that clinical history is corroborated and appropriately documented while respecting confidentiality.
  • Utilizes appropriate imaging protocol and optimizes technical factors while maximizing patient safety, optimizing patient care, and applying principles of ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achievable).
  • Preparing and/or administering, as applicable, medications through new or existing vascular access site as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
  • Evaluates images for proper positioning and acceptable technical quality and verifies archival storage and/or transfer of data, post processing of data if applicable.
  • Educating and monitoring students and other health care providers.
  • Applying principles of radiation safety, magnetic resonance safety, and/or ultrasound safety to minimize risk to patient, self, and others.
  • Assisting the licensed practitioner interventional procedures.
  • Performing imaging procedures as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
  • Selecting appropriate imaging parameters with consideration given to established protocols and other factors influencing data acquisition parameters.

The following certifications needed upon hire:
Certification by the American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT) or Certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board (NMTCB) or Certification by the American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT) as a sonographer ARRT(S) or RDMS or CCI certification in medical sonography or RDCS certification in cardiac sonography or RVT certification as Vascular Technologist and at least one of the following specialty certifications: MRI CT PET ARDMS or CCI or RDCS or RVT-specialty certification VI or CI or CCI Mammo

Education:

Graduate from Specialty Training Program-Radiologic Technology (Required), Bachelor's Degree-Related Field of Study (Preferred)

Experience:

Minimum of 3 years-Related work experience (Required) Certification(s) and License(s):
