Assistant Director Of Behavioral Health Services

Pay: $38.46/hour (additional $5,000 annually for bilingual candidates fluent in eligible languages)

The Assistant Director of Behavioral Health Services will provide support to the Director of Behavioral Health Services in the development, implementation, and maintenance of program clinical operations, expectations, practices, and business goals. To this end the Assistant Director will share responsibility for outpatient and home-based clinical services and will have direct responsibility for a service area including intake and assessment and/or some aspect of the clinical care.

Responsibilities

Support the Director in ensuring that the goals and objectives of the site are met and act on behalf of the Director in their absence or as requested.

Manage day-to-day operations of outpatient and home-based services to ensure that the highest quality clinical care is provided and documented in keeping with best practice standards, regulatory standards and agency standards.

Ensure that clinicians and counselors under the AD's purview meet or exceed productivity expectations.

Work with the Director of Behavioral Health Services to ensure that all training, quality assurance, and compliance standards are met in the center, and have specific responsibility for the documentation in service area specialty (OP or home-based).

Compose oneself with professionalism, ethical practice, and compassionate regard for consumers/clients. To this end, the Assistant Director should demonstrate competency, reliability, honesty, integrity, respectfulness, continued learning, effective collaboration, positivity, mutual support, active listening, and attention to the responsibilities of the job. The Assistant Director should dress neatly, professionally, and appropriately to the situation. The Assistant Director should communicate orally with etiquette, honesty, respectfulness and composure;

written communication should demonstrate excellence and be in keeping with the policies and procedures of the agency.

Behavioral health clinical care may be provided through outpatient services, CBHI services, DCF Support & Stabilization Services, and/or residential setting. The services may include but are limited to: individual therapy, family therapy, group therapy, open access & assessment, clinical consultation, and/or clinical case management.

Through the role of Assistant Director, model a supervision philosophy and clinical practice that:

  • Promotes client-centered care that adheres to best practice standards and recognizes "client voice and client choice,"
  • Recognizes the multiple perspectives of clients and their caregiving system
  • Is cognizant of and actively developing clinical skills that support inclusion, equity and diversity of people that might otherwise be be marginalized or oppressed.
  • Utilizes active and reflective listening as well as the exchange of supportive and effective feedback related to issues of clinical care and practice as well as general performance
  • Orients oneself in a strengths-based approach,
  • Develops an understanding of the impact of trauma and substance abuse
  • Provides positive regard, empathy, curiosity, respect, and professionalism,
  • Establishes and maintain clear expectations and strong professional boundaries,
  • Attunes to the client and his/her family and natural support system,
  • Ensures that clinical care meets medical necessity, and
  • Remains cognizant of and proactive about any issues of safety / risk.

Manage clinical service specialty area such that all program specifications, policies and procedures, and other regulatory requirements are met.

In conjunction with the Director of Behavioral Health Services, recruit, hire and train staff as needed. To this end, assist with the personnel management including the training, supervising, evaluating and supporting the diversity of our staff and interns, as well as taking a leadership role in performance management, progressive discipline, and professional development of staff and interns.
