As part of a multidisciplinary team, your role is to provide evidence-based, high quality Speech

Therapy services to clients and service users to facilitate their highest possible quality of life,

and high quality leadership to team members.

Your will enable people with disabilities to increase their quality of life as valued members

of their homes and community, particularly in the areas of participation, independence, decision

making and inclusion

As a Speech Pathologist, you will have the opportunity to:
  • Work with individuals, their families and their key stakeholders to develop individualised plans and services to clients of all ages and abilities
  • Develop holistic therapy plans within a multidisciplinary team and provide direct community, school-based and home-based intervention and support programs.
  • Work 1:1 and in group contexts with children, teenagers and adults
  • Work with individuals across the lifespan both with and without a diagnosis
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science (Speech Pathology) or approved equivalent, and registration with Speech Pathology Australia
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team together with clients, families, funding agencies, schools, and other Allied Health staff.
  • Demonstrated leadership and conflict management skills.
  • Highly developed oral, written and collaborative communication skills.
  • Ability to represent DSTS at an interagency level. Demonstrated initiative and innovative problem solving skills.
  • Clear understanding of the rights of people with disabilities, and of the concepts of social rolevalorisation, inclusion, active support and quality of life
  • Demonstrated ability in assessment and clinical reasoning which supports planning, implementing and evaluating Speech Therapy services with the purpose of achieving the highest possible quality of life for people with disabilities.
  • Driver’s licence.
