Position provides field coaching, mentorship and management to the field-based Medical Liaisons and develops and implements strategies aligned to identified territory archetype that: optimally manage key opinion leader/organized providers/academic institutions/integrated delivery networks and other key health care provider/organization relationships, specifically with the provision of timely and up to date scientific information relevant to health care provider needs and aligned to NNI patient value framework ensure personal development of the team, and ensure collaboration between the field-based Medical Liaison team and other NNI units / personnel.
Contributes to the representation of FMA throughout the US affiliate and globally if needed; responsible for administrative and management support of field-based FMA Program at Novo Nordisk Inc (NNI). Accountable for ensuring that they lead/act, and their team act, in complete and total compliance with all laws, regulations and policies. (NNI). Assignments are objective oriented and defined in collaboration with senior management; results assessed from a relatively long-term perspective. Establishes operating policies and procedures that affect the work unit. Develops budgets, schedules and performance standards. Strategic determination of change of region and territory prioritization will be based on health care provider need and analytics which identify need for change. This may occur at any time throughout the annual performance cycle.
Reports to Executive Director or Vice President, Medical Affairs. Has direct supervisory responsibility for field based Medical Liaisons in designated areas of the US. Works closely with the home office;
Medical, Marketing, Sales, Legal, Human Resources and other field personnel. Works as needed with Medical Liaisons and their contacts with relevant prioritized health care providers within academic institutions; integrated delivery networks; managed care organizations and HMOs based on territory archetypes and alignment with NNI patient value framework. Strong networking/collaboration skills needed in working with sales, CTM, and DEP management. Leads briefings and technical meetings for internal and external representatives.
Functions Advocacy & Professional Relationship Development
- Leads and participates in special Area and National projects e.g., team meetings, training, etc.
- Maintains a thorough and detailed working knowledge of NNI, its products, current scientific research and publications associated with same
- Takes a leadership role in coordinating FMA activities at assigned medical and scientific meetings and symposia. Presents at assigned symposia to maintain awareness of current industry issues and new data pertaining to NNI products, develops and maintains relationships with key health care providers, conveys appropriate use of NNI products, and supports representatives in answering physicians questions
- Participates and provides industry insight to Marketing and Sales meetings, as needed
- Profiles and identifies key investigators to initiate and/or participate in clinical trials and identify key areas of future research
- Responds to medical questions with highest integrity, compliance, and adherence to legal, regulatory and company guidelines, policies and procedures
- Reviews and audits direct report expense reports; manages and reviews time and activities (as collected and tracked in OSS). Closely monitors and measures activities, plans and budget to ensure desired outcomes
- Reviews, evaluates, and channels information to the appropriate NNI personnel, if needed, and provides timely responses to requests from the Medical Liaisons for support of various activities from contacts in their respective region: (1) financial support of research, teaching, and CME activities, (2) product or technical services to conduct and/or publish research (3) technical services to aid in educational endeavors, (4) product and disease information, and (5) participation in consulting activities or clinical studies
