Job Description

The Patient Account Representative is responsible for processing insurance claims, verifying policy information, and ensuring accurate billing. This role tracks payments, follows up on outstanding balances, and communicates with insurance companies and patients to resolve billing discrepancies.

Additional responsibilities may include managing accounts receivable, reconciling financial records, and generating reports for management. Strong attention to detail, knowledge of insurance procedures, and effective communication skills are essential for success in this role.

This is a primarily remote position with an expectation to work onsite in the Rome office 1–2 days per month.

Job Requirements
  • Knowledge of working aging reports, researching unpaid claims, and submitting appeals to insurance companies.
  • Ability to answer patient and telephone inquiries related to billed claims with courtesy and thoroughness.
  • Ability to perform billing functions within an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system. Raintree experience is preferred.
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle difficult situations and resolve conflicts effectively.
  • Experience with Medicare, Workers’ Compensation, Commercial, Medicaid, and Auto/MVA insurance, as well as working with litigation attorneys.
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Wo
Qualifications
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • 1+ years of previous medical billing experience OR a graduate of Medical Billing School
  • Proficient in Word and Excel
  • Detail oriented
  • Enjoys structure and organization
