Student Peer Educator

Pay Rate: $16.00 per hour, 6 - 12 hours per week depending on department need, availability of funds and student eligibility.
The Student Peer Educator supports Yavapai College's alcohol and drug prevention, wellness, and Social Services efforts through peer education, student outreach, events, and marketing.
This grant-funded position works with Social Services staff and campus partners to increase student awareness of prevention, wellness, and available support resources. The position provides an opportunity to gain experience in peer education, communication, event planning, marketing, and student engagement.
Some remote work may be available; however, regular in-person participation in campus outreach and events is required.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist with alcohol and drug prevention education, outreach, and awareness activities.
- Engage with students and provide information about prevention, wellness, and recovery resources.
- Connect students with appropriate Social Services resources, including basic needs and mental health support.
- Assist with planning and staffing student events, outreach activities, presentations, and prevention campaigns.
- Help create and distribute social media content, flyers, digital materials, and other promotional communications.
- Support efforts to increase student awareness and participation in prevention, wellness, and Social Services programs.
- Complete required peer educator and prevention training.
- Collaborate with Social Services staff and other YC departments on student engagement activities.
- Assist with administrative tasks and other projects as assigned.

Essential Functions
The start date, to occur no sooner than July 1st of the current aid year, of this position will be determined by the hiring supervisor after an applicant is hired. This position has a standard end of assignment date of June 30th of the current aid year. Assignment may end sooner or be extended depending FWS eligibility, availability and/or department need.
