Organ Administrator On Call (AOC) - Night Shift

Greenville, North Carolina, United States

At Honor Bridge, our mission is to build connections that save and heal lives through organ and tissue donation. Every donation opportunity depends on timely decisions, clinical expertise, and leaders who can navigate complex situations when every moment matters.

We are seeking an Organ Administrator On Call (AOC) to provide real-time clinical and operational leadership across the organ donation continuum. This is an opportunity for an experienced donation professional to serve as the central decision-maker during active donation activity, ensuring donor opportunities progress safely, efficiently, and in alignment with Honor Bridge standards and OPTN policy.

This is a remote opportunity for North Carolina residents or individuals planning to relocate to North Carolina. This position works overnight 12-hour shifts, including weekends and holidays.

The Opportunity

The Organ Administrator On Call serves as the operational and clinical leader for donation activity across the Honor Bridge service area, from referral through recovery.

Working as a Referral AOC, Case AOC, or both as operational needs require, this role provides direction and oversight for active donation cases, staffing decisions, donor evaluation, organ allocation, and escalation management. The AOC serves as a critical resource for Honor Bridge staff, hospital partners, transplant centers, surgeons, and medical directors while ensuring donation activity progresses efficiently, safely, and in accordance with organizational and regulatory standards.

This position combines clinical expertise, operational leadership, critical thinking, and relationship management in a dynamic environment where decisions directly impact donation outcomes and lives saved.

What You'll Be Doing

In this role, you will:

  • Provide real-time clinical and operational leadership for organ donation activity from referral through recovery.
  • Serve as Referral AOC, Case AOC, or both, directing case progression and ensuring continuity across the donation process.
  • Monitor active referrals and donor cases to identify priorities, barriers, follow-up needs, and opportunities to improve outcomes.
  • Make staffing and resource allocation decisions during on-call shifts to support safe and effective donation operations.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for on-call staff, transplant centers, hospital partners, surgeons, and internal stakeholders.
  • Exercise independent clinical judgment regarding donor suitability and organ allocation while appropriately escalating decisions outside the scope of AOC authority.
  • Facilitate huddles and collaborative discussions to address operational, staffing, and case-related concerns.
  • Review and oversee documentation within Life Logics True North (LLTN), Donor Net, and other operational platforms to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
  • Ensure required checkpoints, quality reviews, and documentation standards are completed throughout the donation process.
  • Identify and communicate patient safety concerns, operational risks, performance issues, and quality events requiring leadership review.
  • Provide consultation, guidance, coaching, and education to on-call personnel and clinical staff.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with Honor Bridge leaders, clinical teams, physicians, hospital partners, and transplant centers.
  • Maintain current knowledge of OPTN policies, regulatory requirements, and Honor Bridge standards and apply them in real-time decision-making.
  • Participate in case reviews, after-action reviews, quality initiatives, staff meetings, and educational programs that strengthen organizational performance.
What You'll Bring

We're looking for a professional who remains calm under pressure, demonstrates sound clinical judgment, builds trust with others, and can confidently guide teams through complex and time-sensitive situations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field.
  • CPTC certification required.
  • Four or more years of clinical experience in organ recovery.
  • Strong knowledge of organ donation processes, donor management, allocation, and recovery operations.
  • Working knowledge of OPTN policies and procedures with the ability to apply policy in real-time operational situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to make independent decisions in high-pressure and high-stakes clinical environments.

The role requires availability and response within five minutes during scheduled on-call shifts, including overnight, weekend, and holiday coverage. Candidates must be able to remain alert and responsive during extended shifts and periods of high activity.
