Position Description

Manhattan University Counseling Center is accredited by the International Association of Counseling, Inc., (IACS), whichevaluates counseling centers against a set of standards that include regulations about confidentiality, professional training and credentials of clinicians, outreach efforts, and responsivenessto student mental health needs.

The Counseling Center services are provided at no charge to helpour students reach their educational goals and work through any personal issues that are causing anxiety or distress. Manhattan University is seeking a Part-time Staff Counselor to join our collaborative team. This position serves as a liaison with the Manhattan University Athletic Department. Experience working withathletes in competitive sports is required. Duties will includeoutreach to athletic teams, conducting workshops for athletes aswell as individual counseling services to the students.

Thisis an in person on campus- non remote position.

Part-time Position: 4 days a week, 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM duringacademic year.

Job Responsibilities
  • Individual and group psychotherapy, conducting assessments,crisis intervention.
  • Provide individual and group counseling.
  • Facilitate, participate in psycho-educational outreach programs.
  • Work collaboratively with the team.
  • Conduct intakes, and provide assessment, diagnosis and treatment for student psychological concerns.
  • Provide crisis intervention, including suicide riskevaluations.
  • Develop and keep accurate psychological client records.
  • Basic knowledge of computers and ability to work with officetechnology.
  • Other assignments as designated by the Director of Counseling.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling or Social Work. NYSLicensure or Limited Permit Required.
  • Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
