Full-Time Clinical Position in UMATS
This appointment is a full-time clinical position in the UMATS. The position involves participation on a multi-disciplinary outpatient team, with clinical responsibilities to provide direct billable clinical work in evaluating and treating patients with alcohol use disorders, other substance use disorders and mental health diagnoses.
As a member of this team, you will play a vital role in providing psychiatric and addiction evaluations and psychotherapy to patients with Alcohol Use Disorders, other substance use disorders and mental health diagnoses.

- Conduct comprehensive bio-psychosocial assessment or psychiatric evaluation, and provide treatment and case management services to patients and families
- Provide psychotherapeutic interventions using evidence-based treatment modalities

- Scope of practice also includes crisis intervention, pain assessment and non-pharmacological pain intervention, advance directives, case management services, and safety planning related to child/adult abuse, intimate partner violence, and suicide
- Facilitate patient referrals for chronic mental health, substance abuse, complex care management, or other community agencies as appropriate
- Facilitate patient and family participation in appropriate health care decision-making
- Participate in interdisciplinary education, training, and research
- Participate in the development, implementation and facilitation of patient education and/or support programs
- Serve as the psychosocial care expert within multidisciplinary team
- In inpatient settings, may also provide services related to discharge facilitation and coordination of care.
- Additionally, as an expert clinical social worker.
- Provide patient and family centered clinical care at an advanced level.
- Mentor others and takes a lead related to departmental or organizational initiatives.
- Serve as the psychosocial care expert within their multidisciplinary team.
- May be involved in or lead clinical or community program development and/or clinical research activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Senior:
- A Master's degree in Social Work from a school accredited by the Council of Social Work Education.
- A current license to practice social work in the State of Michigan.(LMSW or LLMSW)
- This classification requires registration, certification or licensure with the appropriate agency as identified on the Primary Source Verification Matrix
Underfill:
- A Master's degree in social work from a school accredited by the Council of Social Work Education.
- Some experience of professional social work.
- Current license to practice social work in the State of Michigan (LMSW or LLMSW).
- This classification requires Primary Source Verification
Supervision Received
General Supervision is received from designated official.
Physical Requirements
This position requires infrequent standing/walking, as well as lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or transferring of patients.
Desired Qualifications- Applicants should have the knowledge base and experience to participate in the education and training of students and staff from social work and other disciplines.
- Efficient, accurate psychiatric assessment skills and effective case presentation skills.
- Independent, sound decision-making is necessary for success in this position.
- Effective collaboration with a large multi-disciplinary team.
- Proficiency in keeping accurate and timely clinical records by computer.
- Applicants should have advanced evidence-based psychotherapy training comprising supervised clinical experience using specific modality for 6 or more months.
