Job Summary

The Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine is seeking a highly experienced statistician to support a growing program. The Program Director works primarily within cystic fibrosis and bronchiectasis therapeutic areas so familiarity with pulmonary diseases is highly desired. A Lead/Senior Statistician is sought to support development of research concepts, draft appropriate portions of protocols and grant proposals, perform research data analysis, and assist in manuscript preparation.

Analysis and cleaning of Data

• Writing programs to clean data and perform statistical analysis in R, SAS, Stata, and/or Python.
• Perform statistical analyses using a variety of statistical models and methods, including generalized linear models (e.g., linear, logistic, and count regression), survival analyses, mixed models, and machine learning techniques. Capacity to adapt to novel model execution is required.
• Procuring external data sources needed to supplement studies (e.g., data from electronic medical record, national registries, etc.).
• Documentation and organization of a range of datasets, including those generated from primary collection and data from large databases, and both prospective and retrospective data as applicable.

Manuscript/Presentation contributions

• Manuscript-level writing and presentation of analytic methods and results.
• Creating high quality data visualizations for data briefs, grants, manuscripts, or presentations.
• Co-author manuscripts and other publication level materials by drafting Methods/Results sections and summarizing statistical findings.

Protocol, proposal, and database design

• Contribute to study design decisions, including sample size justification, analytic approach, and variable selection and definition.
• Work with others to help implement study protocols into REDCap databases, consider the data structural design, and work with analysis-ready exports.

Other duties as assigned

• Minimum of a Master's degree in Statistics, Public Health (Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Health Services), or related field. (Senior level) PhD degree in Statistics, Public Health (Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Health Services), or related field is preferred. (Lead)
• 3-5 years of relevant work experience is required for the Senior level position, and 5-8 years of relevant work experience is required for the Lead level position.
• Highly motivated, organized, autonomous person with excellent multi-tasking ability and record-keeping.
• Must be able to program, manage data, and conduct statistical analyses using statistical software packages. R programming proficiency is required; additional skills in SAS, Stata, and/or Python are desirable.
• Demonstrated data management skills and experience preparing data for analysis.
• Solid grounding in statistical theory and willingness to learn and apply new methods and approaches.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Exceptional ability to independently prepare correspondence and write/edit/produce reports.
• Professional demeanor and excellent interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work and communicate effectively with a multidisciplinary team.

• Experience with complex survey samples, and administrative and clinical claims data.
• Pulmonary clinical experience and/or knowledge.
