WorkEnvironment
This position operates primarily in the homes of our pediatric clients, allowing for a personalized therapeutic experience tailored to each child's needs. Our onsite care means that you will frequently engage with families in their own environments, observing and adapting to their specific challenges and lifestyle. You will typically work from Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM, ensuring a balanced schedule with 40 hours of direct patient interaction weekly.
You will have access to vital resources and support to facilitate effective interventions in the comfort of patients' homes.
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations of pediatric patients to identify their physical abilities and limitations, ensuring to document findings clearly for comprehensive understanding.
- Develop individualized treatment plans that incorporate evidence-based practices for ailments including neurological, orthopedic, and developmental conditions.
- Implement therapeutic interventions through engaging and age-appropriate activities that promote motor skills, coordination, balance, and strength.
- Educate and empower families on tailored home exercise programs and effective treatment strategies to ensure continuity of care beyond therapy sessions.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including physicians, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, and physical therapy assistants, to coordinate holistic care.
- Adhere to professional development plans to stay updated with the latest pediatric therapy practices and enhance your clinical competencies.
In this role, you will focus exclusively on the pediatric population, treating children ranging from infants to adolescents with various physical challenges. The nature of the conditions may vary widely, including developmental delays, post-surgical rehabilitation, sports injuries, and congenital disorders. Your expertise will play a crucial role in their rehabilitation journey, determining therapy approaches that resonate with each child's unique circumstances and growth requirements.
Qualifications- A Bachelor's degree or higher in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution recognized by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).
- A valid Virginia Physical Therapy License and current CPR certification are essential for this role.
- Strong clinical assessment skills with the ability to diagnose and treat varied pediatric conditions effectively.
- Proficiency in creating and executing tailored treatment plans that demonstrate sound clinical reasoning and utilize the best practices in pediatric therapy.
- A minimum of two years of professional experience in pediatric physical therapy is required; however, all qualified candidates will be considered.
- A background in home-based care or similar settings is advantageous, providing you with insights into working within clients' everyday environments.
- Experience collaborating with other healthcare professionals to provide integrated and coordinated patient care.
