Position: Mental Health Specialist 1 or 2, Bilingual (Family Check-Up Coordinator)

Mental Health Specialist 1: $34.27 - $45.74
Mental Health Specialist 2: $38.76 - $51.74

About The Position

This position will primarily be responsible for providing Family Check-Up services. Family Check-Up is a strength-based parent intervention service available to parents with children between the ages of 2 and 17 who are residents of Lane County.

Family Check-Up Involves Four Stages
  • Parent interview;
  • Parent-child video-recorded observations;
  • Video-recorded observations are reviewed and coded;
    4) Strength-based feedback is provided to parent.

This position will provide the court mandated parent education course Focus on Children to Spanish-speaking clients.

This position is housed in the Community Justice and Rehabilitation Services Department and will join the Lane County Family Mediation team.

  • Is passionate about supporting parents from diverse backgrounds as they gain skills and strengthen the parent-child relationships;

  • Is able to work independently;
  • Excels at attention to detail and tracking case details;
  • Has experience and facility with Adobe Acrobat, Zoom, and the Microsoft suite of applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook and Teams.
  • Is self-motivated to satisfy client and team member needs efficiently and effectively;
  • Has good judgment;
  • Is adaptable and able to move between tasks depending on client needs;
  • Anticipates program needs and is able to prioritize responsibilities to meet deadlines;
  • Is familiar with (or interested in becoming proficient in) the Family Check-Up service.
  • Is able to successfully engage with stressed or challenging clients on a semi-frequent basis.
This Position Will
  • Provide the Family Check-Up service;
  • Coordinate and perform client outreach through tabling events, community visits, and networking;
  • Refer clients to community resources such as counseling, food pantry, health clinics;
  • Develop relationships with community partners such as schools, Head Start and community mental health organizations to encourage a flow of referrals;
  • Teach court-connected parent education and other related classes;
  • Provide case management and maintain client records;
  • Enter program data and assist in the preparation of reports;
  • Other duties as assigned. Assigned duties are subject to change based on program need.

About The Division
- Family Mediation Team
  • Lane County's Family Mediation Team is a small team that provides multiple services to prevent, reduce, and resolve family conflict, and to promote healthy family interactions.

Work Environment And Physical Demands

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. This position requires frequent work in an office environment. This position is a flexible/hybrid remote position. The office environment includes use of equipment such as a personal computer, telephone, copiers, printers, fax machine, and other applicable technical equipment. This position requires client contact through video conferencing, phone conversations, and occasional face to face meetings.

Work involves exposure to psychological stress including, but not limited to, exposure to: domestic violence; child abuse; substance abuse; individuals experiencing mental health crises; and hostile, confrontational, or difficult people.

Schedule: Monday
- Friday; 8:00am - 5:00pm; (Flexible based on supervisor approval)
