The Field Medical Assistant is an integral member of the clinical care team, partnering directly with providers during home, assisted living, and independent living facility visits. This role is responsible for preparing patients for examinations, assisting with clinical procedures, documenting patient information, and ensuring providers can deliver efficient, high-quality care in the field. The ideal candidate is organized, adaptable, compassionate, and comfortable working independently while traveling throughout the service area.

Key Responsibilities Accompany providers on daily patient visits throughout homes, assisted living, and independent living facilities.

Prepare patients for examination by obtaining and documenting vital signs, medical history updates, medication reconciliation, and other clinical information.

Assist providers with examinations, treatments, and minor clinical procedures within the Medical Assistant scope of practice.

Perform point-of-care testing, specimen collection, EKGs, and other delegated clinical duties as appropriate.

Prepare, clean, stock, and maintain medical equipment, supplies, and provider bags to ensure readiness for daily visits.

Document patient information accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR) during or immediately following patient encounters.

Assist with care coordination by communicating provider orders, scheduling follow-up services, and relaying information to the office team when necessary.

Observe and report changes in patient condition, safety concerns, or environmental hazards to the provider.

Maintain a professional, compassionate, and patient-centered approach while interacting with patients, families, caregivers, and facility staff.

Ensure compliance with HIPAA, infection control standards, OSHA requirements, and all organizational policies and procedures.

Manage daily travel efficiently to maximize provider productivity and patient access.

Support providers with pre-visit preparation and post-visit follow-up tasks to improve workflow efficiency.

Maintain reliable communication with the office and clinical teams throughout the workday.

Participate in team meetings, training, and quality improvement initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications Certified Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA/NCMA) preferred.

EMT license also qualifies.

Current BLS certification.

Previous experience in primary care, geriatrics, home health, hospice, or home-based primary care preferred.

Proficient with electronic medical records and mobile technology.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize independently.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and an acceptable driving record.

Ability to lift and transport up to 30 pounds of medical equipment and supplies.

Comfortable working independently in patients' homes and various community settings.
