WorkEnvironment
This position is entirely remote, enabling our counselors to work flexibly while still contributing to a team-oriented healthcare environment. Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, allowing for a focused work-life balance. Counselors are expected to work a minimum of 32 to 36 hours per week, and there are no on-call obligations, ensuring that you can devote your energy to your patients.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct thorough assessments of patients' mental health to identify emotional, psychological, and behavioral factors related to their weight management challenges.
- Administer standardized assessment tools to evaluate mental health concerns and help guide treatment planning.
- Facilitate individual counseling sessions with patients dealing with obesity and binge eating to address underlying emotional issues, behavioral patterns, and psychological aspects affecting their progress.
- Design tailored treatment programs that reflect each patient's unique goals, preferences, and needs.
- Educate patients on the psychological implications of weight control, including elements such as body image, self-esteem, stress management, and the development of coping strategies.
- Utilize evidence-based therapeutic approaches like cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, and mindfulness techniques to foster long-lasting changes in behavior.
- Lead or co-facilitate group therapy sessions focusing on weight management, providing a supportive environment where patients can share experiences and receive guidance.
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, including physicians, dietitians, and physical therapists, to deliver holistic care to patients.
- Regularly assess and document patient progress toward their mental health and weight management goals, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to optimize care.
- Maintain comprehensive electronic medical records (EMR) using EPIC software, recording counseling sessions, treatment plans, and follow-up notes accurately.
- Stay informed about the latest research and developments in mental health counseling and weight management, continuously enhancing your professional skill set.
- Engage in teaching opportunities by sharing your knowledge with team members or students when applicable.
- Uphold the highest ethical standards in patient care, ensuring confidentiality and professional conduct at all times.
