ROLE SUMMARY
The Head of US Medical Affairs, Oncology is responsible for leading the US Medical Affairs headquarters and field organizations across all tumor areas. This includes >35 home office medical teams in multiple oncology therapy areas, a region wide field medical organization of ~145 Field Medical Directors, and all Oncology above brand team.
This role works highly collaboratively with Global Medical leads, other Regional Heads, publications & content development, Global Development Clinical Trial support, Medical Excellence, the Chief Medical Office, Chief Commercial Office, and Commercial leads. The US leader is an integral member of the Oncology Medical Affairs Leadership Team influencing the over all Pfizer Oncology Medical Strategy. The US Oncology lead is responsible for regional strategy and all US related medical activities inclusive of data generation, dissemination and education of key stakeholders and medical experts in the use of our oncology medical products and therapy areas.
They are expected to build and maintain strong opinion leader relationships engaging in external collaborations in order to gain insight and to facilitate clinical development and life cycle plans.
This leader is also a member of the Commercial Oncology Leadership team (COLT) representing the oncology medical organization, driving strategic alignment on priorities and contributing exceptional medical input and expertise.
The leader will ensure a world class team with exceptional regional understanding of the most important global market, exceptional peer and KOL relationships and a deep understanding of the competence and regional access environment. With exceptional asset knowledge this will contribute to the global asset strategy.
The head will also work with partners to leverage operational excellence in the region to ensure timely delivery of major clinical trials, IIRs, RWE and core dissemination activities. Accountable to build regional medical budget and spend on target.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES- Lead a team to envision a future state of medicine within both oncology and treatment within the United States.
- Innovate and execute within medical affairs organization to meet that vision
- Represent the major market for oncology innovation on the Oncology Chief Oncology Officer Leadership Team (OMLT).
- Contribute to, and collaborate with all global oncology activities as part of OMALT
- Develop and coach medical affairs colleagues to ensure leading performance in medical affairs across the U.S. exceeding benchmarks
- Key deliverables include:
- Medical Affairs Strategy & Plan for all oncology assets in the region including Investigator Sponsored Research (ISR) strategy, key data generation and dissemination plans
