Associate Coordinator, Prevention Fellow

The Center for the Application of Substance Abuse Technologies (CASAT) at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) is seeking an Associate Coordinator for the Pacific Southwest Prevention Technology Transfer Center (PTTC).

This Associate Coordinator position will serve as the Pacific Southwest PTTC Fellow for SAMHSA's prevention fellowship program, which places special emphasis on growing the number of well-trained prevention professionals.

The Associate Coordinator provides entry-level activities to support implementing designated grant/contract activities. The specific responsibilities include assisting in planning grant/contract activities, generating reports, collecting data, entering data into databases, and managing training/TA customer relationships.

• Follow detailed instructions, rules, and regulations in completing project deliverables as assigned
• Participate in activities and meetings related to planning, scheduling, and implementation of grant/contract activities
• Conduct data collection; enter data into databases, and analyze data for reporting purposes
• Maintain effective communication with internal staff members
• Develop positive relationships with all grant/contract customers/stakeholders and respond to project-related requests
• Complete reports and evaluation tasks
• Other duties as assigned.

• Training and mentoring
• Ongoing learning and capacity development activities
• Virtual and In-person training and work experience geared toward becoming a certified prevention specialist, including successfully passing the Prevention Specialist certification exam
• Site Mentor - Fellows will receive mentorship from prevention staff by the host site organization and will be exposed to the day-to-day workings of the site.
• Pacific Southwest PTTC Mentor
  -Pacific Southwest PTTC staff will provide ongoing guidance and training on primary substance misuse prevention.
• Other projects to be defined

• Completing data requests as assigned
• Collecting and entering project data
• Tracking progress toward Prevention Specialist certification

• Frequent, consistent, professional communication with the host site staff, the PTTC Network mentor, PTTC staff, and other Fellows

The Associate Coordinator will demonstrate progress toward Prevention Specialist certification during their employment.

This position is based at the University of Nevada, Reno. Remote work arrangements may be considered for qualified candidates based on university, department, and center policies, business needs, work location requirements, and required approvals. This position must reside within one of the four states in the grant's designated geographical region of HHS Region 9 and be positioned to serve the region overall, focusing on prevention work across the four states within this region.

Approximately half of the time will be devoted to projects with a host site and half will be working on a region-wide prevention project to improve services for communities across HHS Region 9.
