About the Role

Deliberate is looking for a doctoral-level mental health specialist to lead our clinical interviewer team. This is a hands‑on leadership opportunity to work at the intersection of clinical psychology and technology — conducting and overseeing structured clinical assessments while gaining direct exposure to AI‑driven digital mental health assessment, biomarker research, and clinical trials designed for both scientific rigor and real‑world impact.

This role directly supports federally funded research projects developing and validating AI‑driven mental health biomarkers — work that sits at the leading edge of how mental health conditions are measured and assessed. You'll work alongside academic and industry leaders in mental health, with regular supervision from licensed faculty, in a fast‑moving start‑up environment where your clinical judgment and leadership directly shape the quality and reliability of the data behind these tools.

As the Managing Clinical Interviewer, you'll conduct assessments yourself while also owning the day‑to‑day performance, training, and reliability of the broader clinical interviewer team — a natural next step for an experienced clinical researcher ready to take on people leadership alongside their clinical work.

What You'll Do

Team leadership and quality oversight

Oversee daily operations of clinical interviewers, including workload, productivity, participant rapport, participant retention skills, and clinical accuracy

Assist in hiring and training new clinical interviewers

Conduct weekly rating calibration meetings and review of ratings to enhance inter‑rater reliability

Serve as the first point of contact for clinical interviewer questions and problem‑solving

Clinical assessment

Conduct and rate comprehensive clinical assessments and interviews with research participants

Screen participants for eligibility and administer study questionnaires

Accurately collect, organize, and enter research data into designated forms and databases

Adhere to best practices in data management throughout the study lifecycle

Participate in calibration meetings to ensure assessment reliability

Ensure compliance with all institutional, state, and federal regulations relevant to the study

Provide administrative support, including scheduling meetings and organizing participant visits

Collaborate with faculty and the research team to ensure effective study execution

What You'll Need

Completed doctoral degree in clinical psychology, counseling psychology, psychiatry, or a closely related mental health field

At least 4 years of experience conducting clinical interviews for research studies. Experience administering the SCID, MINI, MADRS, and/or HAMD, preferred.

At least 1 year of prior experience training and/or supervising other clinical interviewers

Experience assessing patients with depression and other mental health conditions

Excellent written and oral communication skills, with demonstrated ability to give clear, constructive feedback

Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail

Interest in working in a fast‑paced technology start‑up environment

Ability to work occasional evening and/or weekend hours to accommodate participant schedules (

Note:

role is US remote; occasional flexibility across time zones may be needed — confirm specific overlap expectations, if any.)

What We Offer
