Role Description

The Psychotherapist at Puzzles Counseling will provide individual, couples, and family counseling, conduct intake assessments, and develop evidence-informed treatment plans tailored to each client’s needs. Day-to-day responsibilities include facilitating therapy sessions, maintaining accurate and timely clinical documentation, coordinating care with other providers when appropriate, and participating in case consultations or team meetings. The role involves monitoring client progress, adjusting interventions as needed, and maintaining professional boundaries and ethical standards.

This is a part-time, hybrid role based in Sacramento, CA, with a combination of in-office sessions and some work-from-home flexibility for telehealth services and administrative tasks.

Qualifications
  • Candidates should possess strong foundational knowledge in Psychology and Mental Health, with the ability to apply evidence-based practices in clinical settings.
  • Candidates should possess Counseling and Relationship Counseling skills to support individuals, couples, and families with a variety of emotional and interpersonal concerns.
  • Candidates should possess relevant Medicine-related knowledge sufficient to collaborate with medical professionals and understand how physical health can impact mental health.
  • Current licensure (e.g., LMFT, LCSW, LPCC) in the state of California.
  • Experience providing psychotherapy in outpatient or community mental health settings, including telehealth delivery.
  • Strong communication skills, cultural humility, and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Competence in maintaining confidential records and using electronic health record systems.
  • Master’s or doctoral degree in a relevant field such as Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or Marriage and Family Therapy.
