The Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) independently performs moderate- and high-complexity laboratory testing in accordance with established policies, procedures, and regulatory standards (e.g., CAP, CLIA). This role is responsible for conducting routine and specialized technical analyses to support the diagnosis and treatment of disease. The MLS operates, maintains, and troubleshoots laboratory instrumentation, applies advanced critical thinking to resolve technical issues, and ensures quality, accuracy, and compliance in all testing processes.
Additionally, the MLS serves as a resource to laboratory staff, supports training and education, and contributes to continuous improvement and patient care excellence.
What you will do:
- Perform routine and complex laboratory testing with accuracy and efficiency in accordance with established procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Analyze, interpret, and validate test results for clinical use in patient diagnosis and treatment.
- Operate, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Identify and resolve technical, procedural, and quality-related issues using independent judgment.
- Ensure compliance with quality control, quality assurance, infection control, and safety standards.
- Organize and prioritize workload to meet turnaround times and laboratory performance expectations.
- Serve as a resource to Medical Laboratory Technicians and other staff by providing guidance and technical expertise.
- Participate in training, orientation, and competency development of new employees and students.
- Assist in evaluation and implementation of new procedures, methodologies, and instrumentation.
- Support laboratory operations by maintaining supplies, adhering to organizational policies, and promoting a collaborative, patient-focused environment.

High School Diploma or GED Technical Program Phlebotomy Training Program - Experience
Qualifications:
Previous experience as a Phlebotomist is preferred but not required. Completion of coursework from an accredited program with at least one month of internship is also acceptable. - Skills and Abilities:
Proficient in data entry within information systems Operate automated instruments and mechanical equipment with proper training Deliver exceptional customer service to support positive patient experiences Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to follow written and verbal instructions
