Role Description

The Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) is a full-time, hybrid role based in the Columbia, South Carolina Metropolitan Area, with a mix of in-person visits and some work from home for documentation and coordination. Day-to-day responsibilities include implementing physical therapy treatment plans under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist, focusing on pediatric patients in home, clinic, and community settings. The PTA will assist with therapeutic exercises, mobility and strength training, and use of adaptive equipment, while monitoring progress and reporting changes in patient status.

The role includes documenting treatment sessions, maintaining accurate records, communicating with families and caregivers about home programs, and collaborating with other therapists to support coordinated care. The PTA is expected to follow all professional, ethical, and safety standards while contributing to a positive, family-centered environment.

Qualifications
  • Strong patient care and rehabilitation skills, with experience supporting pediatric populations or a demonstrated interest in pediatric therapy.
  • Foundational knowledge and practical skills in physical therapy, with the ability to implement treatment plans under supervision.
  • Basic understanding of occupational therapy and interdisciplinary care to collaborate effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Clear, compassionate communication skills for interacting with children, families, caregivers, and colleagues.
  • Active or Pending state license or certification as a Physical Therapy Assistant in South Carolina.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid model, including travel within the Columbia, SC area for home, clinic, and community sessions.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills, including use of electronic health records or similar systems.
  • Commitment to inclusive, culturally responsive care and adherence to all professional and regulatory standards.
