JOB REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The Caregiver will be trained in the provision of care services and in each skill that is assigned which can include but not limited to:
Assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, eating, mobility, toileting, and transferring Changing of consumer(s) bed, laundering of bed linens and consumer(s) personal clothing Medically orientated tasks (medication assistance, tube feedings, skin care, mechanical lifts, etc) as assigned Care of eyeglasses and hearing aids Light cleaning in essential areas of home during personal care activities Meal preparation and meal serving Providing companionship and activities (including transportation as assigned) Promptly reporting changes in consumer's condition to the designated supervisor Completion and submission of Records of Care in a thorough, accurate, and timely manner Maintain confidentiality of consumer's information Adhere to and abide by all policies and procedures
Caregiving Experience Preferred Familiar With The Philosophy And Concepts Of independent living required Ability to understand and carry out consumer instructions required Ability to relate well to others required Good past employment references required Physical strength sufficient to Perform Essential Functions Of Job Required Effective Means Of transportation to the work site required. If consumer Plan of Care includes errand services or transport of consumer, a valid Wisconsin driver's license, proof of auto liability insurance meeting agency minimum limits and ability to meet agency driving standards required Completion of interview and training conducted by MILC staff required Satisfactory Criminal Background results required.
Results based on relevance to position and in compliance with state and federal regulations for caregivers
Ability to read and interpret written documents such as policies, letters, instruction and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from the consumer, consumer's representative and MILC staff. Ability to speak effectively with consumers and co-workers.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to add, subtract, in minutes, hours or units of time.
PHYSICAL DEMANDSWhile performing the essential duties of this job, the employee will routinely: sit, use hands and fingers; handle; feel; reach with hands and arms; walk; bend; squat; twist; talk; see; hear; and perform tasks specific to each consumer's care plan. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move consumer utilizing different transferring techniques and/or with the use of assistive equipment/technology.
WORK ENVIRONMENTWhile performing the essential duties of this job, the employee will work in the consumer's home and in the community.
